PRKAR1A (Protein Kinase cAMP-Dependent Type I Regulatory Subunit Alpha) is a critical regulatory component of the cAMP-dependent protein kinase A (PKA) complex, which mediates cellular responses to cyclic AMP (cAMP), a key secondary messenger in signal transduction.
