背景信息

NDUFA4L2 (NADH dehydrogenase [ubiquinone] 1 alpha subcomplex 4-like 2) is a hypoxia-inducible gene encoding a mitochondrial protein that modulates mitochondrial complex I activity. Unlike its homolog NDUFA4. NDUFA4L2 is not an integral subunit of complex I but regulates its function under low-oxygen conditions by suppressing electron transport chain efficiency, thereby reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. This adaptation helps cells survive in hypoxic environments, such as solid tumors or ischemic tissues. The NDUFA4L2 antibody is a critical tool for detecting and quantifying NDUFA4L2 protein expression in research. It is widely used in Western blotting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) to study its role in diseases like cancer, metabolic disorders, and neurodegenerative conditions. Overexpression of NDUFA4L2 is associated with tumor progression, as it promotes a metabolic shift toward aerobic glycolysis (the Warburg effect), enhancing cancer cell proliferation and resistance to apoptosis. The antibody also aids in exploring hypoxia-related pathways, particularly those involving HIF-1α (hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha), which transcriptionally activates NDUFA4L2. Researchers utilize this antibody to investigate therapeutic strategies targeting mitochondrial metabolism or hypoxia adaptation in pathological conditions. Commercial NDUFA4L2 antibodies are typically raised in rabbits or mice, with validation in specific applications and species cross-reactivity being key quality considerations.
