背景信息

The anterior gradient 3 (AGR3) protein, a member of the protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) family, plays roles in cellular processes such as protein folding, secretion, and mucin production. It shares structural homology with AGR2. another well-studied protein involved in ER stress response, cell signaling, and cancer progression. AGR3 is primarily expressed in hormone-responsive tissues and epithelial cells, with emerging links to cancer biology. Studies suggest its overexpression in certain cancers, including breast, ovarian, and lung cancers, where it may promote tumor growth, metastasis, and chemoresistance through interactions with estrogen receptor (ER) pathways and modulation of extracellular matrix components. AGR3 antibodies have gained attention as potential diagnostic and therapeutic tools. Immunohistochemical studies using AGR3 antibodies reveal its tissue-specific expression patterns, while experimental models demonstrate that antibody-mediated targeting could inhibit cancer cell proliferation. Its selective expression in tumors compared to normal tissues makes it a candidate biomarker for liquid biopsies and targeted therapies. However, functional overlap with AGR2 and context-dependent roles in different cancer subtypes require further investigation. Current research focuses on validating AGR3 antibody specificity, optimizing detection methods, and exploring clinical applications in personalized oncology.
