The KDEL receptor 3 (KDELR3) is a member of the KDEL receptor family, which plays a critical role in the retrieval of endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-resident proteins that escape to the Golgi apparatus. These receptors recognize proteins with a C-terminal KDEL (Lys-Asp-Glu-Leu) or related motif, facilitating their retrograde transport back to the ER via COPI-coated vesicles. KDELR3. encoded by the *KDELR3* gene in humans, is one of three paralogs (KDELR1-3) sharing structural homology but exhibiting distinct tissue expression patterns and functional roles.
