The TCEB2 antibody targets the Transcription Elongation Factor B (TEFB) subunit 2. also known as Elongin B, a critical component of the multi-protein Elongin complex. This complex, composed of Elongin A (transcriptional activator), Elongin B, and Elongin C, regulates RNA polymerase II elongation during transcription. TCEB2 (Elongin B) forms a stable heterodimer with Elongin C, serving as a regulatory scaffold that enhances the transcriptional activity of Elongin A. Beyond transcription, the Elongin B/C dimer interacts with the von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) tumor suppressor protein, forming part of the VHL E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. This complex targets hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-1α for proteasomal degradation under normoxic conditions, playing a key role in oxygen sensing and tumor suppression. Dysregulation of TCEB2 or its associated pathways is linked to cancers, particularly renal cell carcinoma, due to VHL mutations or HIF-1α accumulation.
