背景信息

The TRIM29 antibody targets TRIM29 (Tripartite Motif-Containing 29), a protein encoded by the TRIM29 gene, which belongs to the TRIM family involved in diverse cellular processes like apoptosis, DNA repair, and antiviral responses. TRIM29. also known as ATDC (Ataxia-Telangiectasia Group D Complementing), is implicated in cancer biology, though its role is context-dependent, acting as both an oncogene and tumor suppressor. Structurally, it contains multiple zinc-binding domains (B-boxes) and a coiled-coil region but lacks a RING domain, distinguishing it from other TRIM proteins. TRIM29 interacts with p53. β-catenin, and other signaling molecules, modulating pathways like Wnt/β-catenin and NF-κB. Its overexpression is linked to tumor progression in pancreatic, bladder, and breast cancers, while downregulation is observed in certain carcinomas, suggesting tissue-specific functions. Antibodies against TRIM29 are used in research to study its expression patterns, subcellular localization (primarily nuclear or cytoplasmic), and interactions in cancer models. They aid in detecting TRIM29's involvement in chemotherapy resistance, metastasis, and immune evasion. However, inconsistent findings across studies highlight the need for standardized antibody validation. TRIM29 antibodies are critical tools for exploring its dual roles in carcinogenesis and potential as a diagnostic or therapeutic target.
