**Background of PMS2 Antibody**

The PMS2 antibody targets the PMS2 protein, a key component of the DNA mismatch repair (MMR) system. Encoded by the *PMS2* gene, this protein partners with MLH1 to form the MutLα complex, which recognizes and corrects errors during DNA replication, such as base-base mismatches or small insertion-deletion loops. Defects in PMS2 are linked to Lynch syndrome (hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer), a condition predisposing individuals to colorectal, endometrial, and other cancers due to microsatellite instability (MSI) caused by impaired MMR function.
