CD10 antibody targets the CD10 antigen, a cell surface metalloproteinase also known as neutral endopeptidase (NEP) or common acute lymphoblastic leukemia antigen (CALLA). Discovered in the 1970s, CD10 is a 90-110 kDa zinc-dependent enzyme encoded by the *MME* gene on chromosome 17q21. It cleaves peptide hormones, including enkephalins, endothelin-1. and bradykinin, modulating cellular signaling, proliferation, and apoptosis.
CD10 is expressed in lymphoid progenitors, germinal center B cells, granulocytes, and stromal cells. It serves as a diagnostic marker for hematologic malignancies, particularly B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) and Burkitt lymphoma.
