Cadherin-4 (CDH4), also known as R-cadherin, is a transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the cadherin superfamily, which mediates calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion. As a classical type II cadherin, CDH4 plays critical roles in tissue morphogenesis, neural development, and cellular signaling. It is characterized by its extracellular cadherin repeats that facilitate homophilic binding and intracellular domains interacting with catenins to link the actin cytoskeleton.
