**CBX6 (Chromobox Homolog 6)** is a member of the Polycomb group (PcG) protein family, which plays critical roles in epigenetic regulation and chromatin remodeling. As a component of the Polycomb Repressive Complex 1 (PRC1), CBX6 contributes to gene silencing by mediating the monoubiquitination of histone H2A at lysine 119 (H2AK119ub), facilitating transcriptional repression. It contains a conserved chromodomain that binds to trimethylated histone H3 lysine 27 (H3K27me3), a modification deposited by PRC2. thereby linking PRC1 activity to PRC2-mediated chromatin states.
