C1orf127, also known as chromosome 1 open reading frame 127, is a poorly characterized human protein encoded by a gene located on the short arm of chromosome 1 (1p36.11). Despite its identification through genomic sequencing, the biological function, cellular localization, and molecular mechanisms of C1orf127 remain largely undefined. Bioinformatics analyses suggest it encodes a small protein (~20 kDa) with no significant homology to well-characterized domains, complicating functional predictions. Limited studies indicate potential involvement in cellular stress responses or metabolic regulation, though experimental validation is lacking.  


C1orf127 transcripts are ubiquitously expressed in human tissues, with moderate levels in the brain, liver, and kidneys. Some high-throughput studies associate its expression with cancer progression, particularly in hepatocellular carcinoma and glioblastoma, but these correlations require mechanistic confirmation. A few proteomic databases report possible interactions with RNA-binding proteins, hinting at roles in post-transcriptional regulation.
