PA2G4 (Proliferation-Associated 2G4), also known as Ebp1. is a multifunctional protein encoded by the PA2G4 gene. It belongs to the DNAJB4/HSP40 family of heat shock proteins, though it lacks the classic J-domain typical of this family. PA2G4 plays diverse roles in cellular processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and transcriptional regulation. It exists in two major isoforms (p48 and p42) generated through alternative splicing, with p48 predominantly localized in the nucleus and p42 in the cytoplasm.
