Histone H2B is one of the five major histone proteins (H2A, H2B, H3. H4. and H1) that play a critical role in organizing eukaryotic DNA into chromatin. As a core component of nucleosomes, H2B forms a dimer with H2A, contributing to the structural stability of chromatin and regulating DNA accessibility for transcription, replication, and repair.
