**Background of ATBP3 Antibody**
The ATBP3 (Androgen-induced Tumor Suppressor Candidate 3) antibody is a tool used to detect ATBP3. a protein implicated in cell proliferation, apoptosis, and tumor suppression. ATBP3. also known as testis-specific gene antigen (TSGA) or C1orf110. was initially identified as a gene downregulated in prostate cancer and regulated by androgen signaling. It is highly expressed in testicular germ cells and certain somatic tissues, suggesting roles in reproductive biology and cellular homeostasis.
ATBP3 functions as a potential tumor suppressor by modulating cell cycle progression and apoptosis, possibly through interactions with p53 or other signaling pathways. Its downregulation in cancers, such as prostate and colorectal cancer, correlates with disease progression, highlighting its clinical relevance. The ATBP3 antibody is commonly employed in Western blotting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) to study its expression, localization, and regulatory mechanisms in both normal and pathological contexts.
Research using ATBP3 antibodies has contributed to understanding its dual roles in development and disease, particularly in androgen-related pathologies and germ cell biology. However, some studies note challenges in specificity due to alternative splicing variants or cross-reactivity. Researchers are advised to validate antibody performance using appropriate controls and contextualize findings within existing literature to address nomenclature discrepancies (e.g., TSGA vs. ATBP3). Overall, ATBP3 remains a promising target for exploring cancer mechanisms and therapeutic strategies.
