The eukaryotic initiation factor 4A1 (eIF4A1) is a critical component of the translation initiation machinery, belonging to the DEAD-box RNA helicase family. As part of the eIF4F complex, it facilitates the unwinding of secondary structures in mRNA 5'UTRs, enabling ribosome scanning and start codon recognition.
