The EMC4 antibody targets the EMC4 subunit of the endoplasmic reticulum membrane protein complex (EMC), a conserved multi-protein assembly critical for membrane protein biogenesis. First identified in yeast, the EMC (with 6-10 subunits across species) facilitates the insertion, folding, and stabilization of transmembrane domain (TMD)-containing proteins, particularly those with complex topologies.
