The UQCRC2 antibody targets the Ubiquinol-Cytochrome c Reductase Core Protein 2 (UQCRC2), a key subunit of mitochondrial Complex III (cytochrome bc1 complex) in the electron transport chain (ETC). Complex III plays a critical role in oxidative phosphorylation by transferring electrons from ubiquinol to cytochrome c and pumping protons to establish the mitochondrial membrane potential, driving ATP synthesis. UQCRC2. encoded by the nuclear UQCRC2 gene, is a core structural component of Complex III, forming a dimer with UQCRC1 to stabilize the complex’s structure and facilitate interactions with other ETC components.
