背景信息

CD281. also known as Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), is a transmembrane protein critical in innate immunity. It recognizes pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs), particularly lipopolysaccharides (LPS) from Gram-negative bacteria, and initiates immune responses via MyD88-dependent and TRIF-dependent signaling pathways. CD281 antibodies are tools designed to target TLR4 for research or therapeutic purposes. They are widely used to study TLR4's role in inflammatory diseases (e.g., sepsis, arthritis), autoimmune disorders, and cancer. Some antibodies block TLR4-LPS interactions, suppressing pro-inflammatory cytokine production, while others detect TLR4 expression in tissues or cells. Notably, TLR4's dual role in promoting inflammation and tissue repair complicates therapeutic targeting. Current research explores CD281 antibodies in modulating TLR4 activity to treat conditions like endotoxemia, neuroinflammation, and chemotherapy resistance. However, challenges remain in balancing immune activation and inhibition to avoid unintended immunosuppression or hyperactivation.
