CDK11A and CDK11B are closely related serine/threonine kinases belonging to the cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) family, which play critical roles in cell cycle regulation, transcription, and RNA processing. These isoforms are encoded by distinct genes (*CDK11A* and *CDK11B*) located on human chromosomes 1p36.33 and 1p36.13. respectively. CDK11B (formerly PITSLRE) is expressed as multiple splice variants, while CDK11A shares high sequence homology but lacks certain regulatory domains. Both interact with cyclin L and are implicated in G2/M phase progression, transcriptional elongation via phosphorylation of RNA polymerase II, and mRNA splicing. Dysregulation of CDK11A/B is linked to cancers, neurodegenerative diseases, and developmental disorders. Antibodies targeting CDK11A/B are widely used in Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation to study their expression, localization, and protein interactions.
