背景信息

Recombinant human YBX2 protein, also known as Y-box binding protein 2. is a member of the Y-box protein family characterized by its evolutionarily conserved cold shock domain (CSD). YBX2 is encoded by the YBX2 gene located on chromosome 17 in humans. Structurally, it contains a central CSD that facilitates binding to RNA or single-stranded DNA, flanked by variable N- and C-terminal regions involved in protein-protein interactions. YBX2 is predominantly expressed in germline cells and plays critical roles in gametogenesis. During spermatogenesis, it regulates mRNA stability, translational repression, and storage in male germ cells. In oocytes, it is essential for maintaining mRNA dormancy and activating translation during maturation. Studies also link YBX2 to chromatin remodeling and epigenetic regulation during early embryogenesis. Dysregulation of YBX2 has been implicated in infertility and certain cancers, where it may promote tumor progression by modulating oncogenic transcripts. Recombinant YBX2 proteins are produced using heterologous expression systems (e.g., E. coli, mammalian cells) to study its molecular interactions, structural dynamics, and functional mechanisms in vitro. This tool enables researchers to dissect its roles in post-transcriptional gene regulation, germ cell development, and potential therapeutic targeting.
