POU2F2. also known as Oct-2. is a transcription factor belonging to the POU (Pit-Oct-Unc) protein family, characterized by a conserved DNA-binding domain called the POU domain. This domain consists of two subdomains: a POU-specific region and a homeodomain, enabling sequence-specific DNA binding. Encoded by the *POU2F2* gene located on chromosome 19 (19q13.2 in humans), it plays a critical role in regulating gene expression, particularly in immune and neuronal systems. POU2F2 is highly expressed in B lymphocytes and neurons, where it orchestrates the transcription of genes involved in B-cell differentiation, antibody production, and neuronal development.
