MRPL40 (Mitochondrial Ribosomal Protein L40) is a key component of the mitochondrial ribosome’s large subunit, playing an essential role in mitochondrial protein synthesis. Encoded by the nuclear gene MRPL40. this protein is synthesized in the cytoplasm and subsequently imported into mitochondria, where it assembles into the 39S subunit of the mitochondrial ribosome.
