背景信息

**Background of Recombinant Human MATP Protein**

The **Melanoma-associated antigen tyrosine phosphatase (MATP)**, also known as PTPMT1, is a mitochondrial protein tyrosine phosphatase involved in critical cellular processes. It belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, characterized by a conserved catalytic domain that regulates phosphorylation-dependent signaling. MATP contains an N-terminal mitochondrial targeting sequence and a C-terminal phosphatase domain, localizing it primarily to the mitochondrial matrix.

Functionally, MATP plays a key role in energy metabolism by modulating phospholipid biosynthesis, particularly phosphatidic acid (PA) and cardiolipin—a lipid critical for mitochondrial membrane integrity and electron transport chain efficiency. Its enzymatic activity influences mitochondrial dynamics, bioenergetics, and apoptosis. Dysregulation of MATP has been linked to metabolic disorders, cancer (notably melanoma), and neurodegenerative diseases, highlighting its therapeutic potential.

Recombinant human MATP protein is produced via heterologous expression systems (e.g., *E. coli* or mammalian cells*) for biochemical and cellular studies. It enables researchers to investigate MATP's structure, substrate specificity, and interaction partners, as well as screen inhibitors or activators for drug development. Studies on recombinant MATP also shed light on its role in mitochondrial dysfunction-associated pathologies, offering avenues for targeting metabolic syndromes or cancer through mitochondrial signaling pathways.
