Recombinant human LCE1E (Late Cornified Envelope 1E) protein is a genetically engineered variant of a naturally occurring protein belonging to the LCE protein family, which plays a critical role in epidermal differentiation and skin barrier formation. LCE1E is part of the late cornified envelope gene cluster located on chromosome 1q21. a region associated with epidermal homeostasis and inflammatory skin disorders like psoriasis. These proteins are predominantly expressed in the suprabasal layers of the epidermis, contributing to the assembly of the cornified envelope—a structure essential for maintaining skin integrity, hydration, and defense against environmental stressors.
