背景信息

**Background on Recombinant Human CARD12 Protein**

The recombinant human caspase recruitment domain-containing protein 12 (CARD12), also known as NLRC3 or NOD3. is a member of the NOD-like receptor (NLR) family. This protein plays a critical role in innate immunity by sensing intracellular pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs). Structurally, CARD12 contains a C-terminal leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domain for ligand sensing, a central nucleotide-binding NACHT domain for oligomerization, and an N-terminal caspase recruitment (CARD) domain that facilitates downstream signaling.

CARD12 is implicated in regulating inflammatory responses and apoptosis. It participates in the formation of inflammasomes, multiprotein complexes that activate caspase-1. leading to the maturation of pro-inflammatory cytokines like IL-1β. Additionally, CARD12 modulates NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways, influencing cell survival and immune regulation. Dysregulation of CARD12 has been linked to autoimmune disorders, chronic inflammation, and cancer.

Recombinant CARD12 protein, produced via heterologous expression systems (e.g., *E. coli* or mammalian cells), enables functional studies to dissect its molecular mechanisms, interactions, and role in disease. This tool is vital for screening therapeutic agents targeting NLR-mediated immune pathways. Research on recombinant CARD12 enhances understanding of immune dysregulation and supports the development of novel anti-inflammatory or immunomodulatory therapies.
