C3orf22 (Chromosome 3 Open Reading Frame 22) is a poorly characterized human protein encoded by a gene located on the short arm of chromosome 3 (3p21.31). Despite its conserved presence across vertebrates, its biological function remains largely unknown. The gene spans approximately 4.2 kb and encodes a protein of 166 amino acids, with a predicted molecular weight of ~19 kDa. Bioinformatic analyses suggest it may contain disordered regions and a putative transmembrane domain, hinting at possible roles in subcellular localization or protein interactions. However, experimental validation is lacking.
