背景信息

The TERF2IP antibody targets the TERF2 Interacting Protein (TERF2IP), also known as Rap1. a critical component of the shelterin complex responsible for telomere maintenance and genome stability. TERF2IP binds directly to TRF2. another shelterin protein, and plays a dual role in telomere protection and transcriptional regulation. It facilitates telomere looping by tethering telomeres to the nuclear matrix and participates in the repression of homology-directed repair (HDR) to prevent telomere fusions. Beyond telomere biology, TERF2IP interacts with NF-κB signaling pathways, influencing inflammatory responses and apoptosis.

Antibodies against TERF2IP are widely used in research to study telomere dynamics, DNA damage response, and chromatin organization. They enable detection of TERF2IP expression via techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP). Dysregulation of TERF2IP is linked to aging-related diseases, cancer (due to telomere dysfunction), and rare genetic disorders like dyskeratosis congenita. These antibodies also aid in exploring TERF2IP's non-telomeric roles, such as its involvement in transcriptional regulation and immune signaling. Commercial TERF2IP antibodies are typically validated for specificity using knockout cell lines or siRNA knockdowns to ensure reliable experimental outcomes.
