The mouse IκB kinase epsilon (Ikbke, also known as IKKε) is a serine/threonine kinase belonging to the IKK family, which plays a critical role in innate immunity and inflammatory signaling. It shares structural and functional similarities with TBK1 (TANK-binding kinase 1) and is activated in response to pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) or cytokines. Ikbke phosphorylates key regulators, such as IRF3/7 and STAT1. to induce type I interferons (IFNs) and pro-inflammatory cytokines, linking pathogen detection to antiviral and immune responses. Dysregulation of Ikbke has been implicated in autoimmune diseases, metabolic disorders, and cancer.
Mouse Ikbke-specific antibodies are essential tools for studying its expression, activation, and interaction partners in murine models. These antibodies enable detection of Ikbke via techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, or immunoprecipitation, helping to elucidate its role in signaling pathways. Research using these antibodies has revealed Ikbke's involvement in TLR, RIG-I, and cGAS-STING pathways, as well as its cross-talk with NF-κB and JAK-STAT signaling. Knockout mouse studies, supported by antibody-based validation, highlight Ikbke's dual role in promoting antiviral defense and contributing to chronic inflammation. Such antibodies are vital for preclinical studies targeting Ikbke in autoimmune or oncotherapeutic contexts.
