The CPN2 (N-term) antibody is designed to target the amino-terminal region of Carboxypeptidase N subunit 2 (CPN2), a critical component of the Carboxypeptidase N (CPN) enzyme complex. CPN, also known as kininase I or anaphylatoxin inactivator, is a zinc-dependent metalloprotease primarily synthesized in the liver and secreted into the bloodstream. It consists of two subunits: an 82 kDa catalytic subunit (CPN1) and a 55 kDa protective glycoprotein subunit (CPN2). CPN2 stabilizes CPN1. prolonging its enzymatic activity in circulation by shielding it from degradation or inhibition.
CPN plays a key role in regulating bioactive peptides, including inactivating inflammatory mediators like kinins (e.g., bradykinin) and anaphylatoxins (e.g., C3a, C5a). Dysregulation of CPN activity is linked to conditions such as hereditary angioedema, sepsis, and inflammatory disorders. The N-terminal region of CPN2 is essential for its interaction with CPN1 and overall complex stability. Antibodies targeting this region, such as CPN2 (N-term), are valuable tools for studying CPN2 expression, protein-protein interactions, and functional roles in physiological or pathological contexts. They are widely used in techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA to investigate CPN's involvement in immune regulation, vascular permeability, and potential therapeutic targeting.
