LC3B (microtubule-associated protein 1A/1B-light chain 3B) is a key autophagy-related protein critical for autophagosome formation, a hallmark of cellular autophagy. It is the mammalian homolog of yeast Atg8 and exists in two forms: cytosolic LC3B-I and lipidated LC3B-II, which associates with autophagosomal membranes.
