IMP3 (Insulin-like Growth Factor II mRNA-Binding Protein 3), also known as KOC (KH domain-containing protein overexpressed in cancer), is a member of the conserved IMP family of RNA-binding proteins involved in post-transcriptional gene regulation. Structurally, it contains six K-homology (KH) domains and two RNA recognition motifs (RRMs), enabling mRNA binding and modulation of translation, stability, or localization. IMP3 is predominantly expressed during embryonic development but shows minimal or absent expression in most normal adult tissues. However, its re-expression is frequently observed in various malignancies, including pancreatic, renal, hepatocellular, cervical, and ovarian cancers, where it correlates with aggressive tumor behavior and poor prognosis.

Functionally, IMP3 promotes tumor progression by enhancing cell proliferation, invasion, and metastasis while inhibiting apoptosis.
