CD99 antibody is a diagnostic tool targeting the CD99 antigen, a 32-kDa transmembrane glycoprotein encoded by the *MIC2* gene located on the X and Y chromosomes. Initially identified in T lymphocytes, CD99 is widely expressed in human tissues, including endothelial cells, pancreatic islets, and hematopoietic cells. It plays roles in cell adhesion, migration, apoptosis, and T-cell receptor signaling. In pathology, CD99 is a key marker for Ewing sarcoma and primitive neuroectodermal tumors (PNETs), where its overexpression is detected via immunohistochemistry (IHC).
