背景信息

The SC35 antibody recognizes a protein component of the nuclear speckles, dynamic subnuclear structures enriched in pre-mRNA splicing factors. SC35. initially identified in the 1990s, is a member of the serine/arginine-rich (SR) protein family, which plays critical roles in constitutive and alternative splicing of pre-messenger RNA. The protein, approximately 35 kDa in size, was named based on its molecular weight and reactivity with the monoclonal antibody SC35 (originally derived from a spliceosome-enriched fraction). It localizes to nuclear speckles, where it participates in spliceosome assembly and regulates splicing efficiency by binding exonic or intronic splicing enhancers.

SC35 is involved in coordinating transcription and splicing, acting as a scaffold to recruit other splicing machinery components.
