Nrf1 (Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 1), also known as NFE2L1. is a transcription factor belonging to the CNC-bZIP family. It plays a critical role in regulating cellular responses to oxidative stress, mitochondrial function, and proteasome homeostasis. Unlike its homolog Nrf2. which primarily activates antioxidant response element (ARE)-driven genes under stress, Nrf1 is constitutively expressed and essential for basal oxidative stress management.
