The insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 2 (IGF2BP2), also known as IMP2. is a member of the conserved RNA-binding protein family that regulates mRNA stability, localization, and translation. It plays a critical role in post-transcriptional gene regulation, particularly in embryogenesis, metabolism, and cancer progression. IGF2BP2 binds to target mRNAs, including IGF2. MYC, and HMGA1. and enhances their expression by shielding them from degradation or promoting translational efficiency.
