Mouse Monoclonal CDX2 Antibody

The CDX2 antibody is a valuable diagnostic tool in pathology, primarily used to identify the presence of the caudal-type homeobox transcription factor 2 (CDX2), a protein critical in intestinal development and differentiation. CDX2 is expressed in normal intestinal epithelial cells, where it regulates genes involved in cell polarity, proliferation, and apoptosis. Immunohistochemically, CDX2 antibodies (e.g., clone CDX2-88) are widely employed to confirm intestinal origin in tumors, particularly adenocarcinoma. Strong nuclear staining supports a diagnosis of colorectal carcinoma, aiding in distinguishing it from other adenocarcinomas (e.g., lung, ovarian). However, CDX2 expression is not entirely specific; it may be seen in gastric, pancreaticobiliary, or mucinous ovarian carcinomas. Loss of CDX2 expression in colorectal cancer has been associated with poor prognosis and microsatellite instability. In research, CDX2 antibodies help study gut development, Barrett’s esophagus, and intestinal metaplasia. Interpretation requires caution, as weak/patchy staining may occur in non-intestinal tissues. CDX2 is often used alongside other markers (CK20. SATB2) to enhance diagnostic accuracy.
