背景信息

The Golgin A5 (GOLGA5) antibody is a tool used to detect GOLGA5. a member of the golgin family of proteins localized to the Golgi apparatus. GOLGA5. also known as Golgin-84. plays a critical role in maintaining Golgi structure and facilitating vesicle-mediated transport by tethering membranes or organizing the Golgi stack. It contains coiled-coil domains that mediate interactions with other Golgi components. Antibodies against GOLGA5 are widely employed in studies of Golgi dynamics, intracellular trafficking, and cell division. Research has linked GOLGA5 to pathologies, including cancers, as it can form fusion proteins with oncogenes like RET in certain thyroid and lung cancers. Such rearrangements drive aberrant signaling, making GOLGA5 a potential biomarker or therapeutic target. Commercially available GOLGA5 antibodies (polyclonal or monoclonal, from species like rabbit or mouse) are validated for techniques like immunofluorescence, Western blotting, and immunoprecipitation. These tools help elucidate Golgi-related mechanisms in cellular homeostasis, apoptosis, and disease. However, antibody specificity must be carefully confirmed due to structural similarities among golgin family members. Overall, GOLGA5 antibodies remain vital for exploring Golgi biology and its implications in health and disease.
