背景信息

The ABCG2 antibody targets the ATP-binding cassette subfamily G member 2 (ABCG2), a transmembrane transporter protein also known as breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP). ABCG2 plays a critical role in multidrug resistance (MDR) by actively effluxing chemotherapeutic agents, such as mitoxantrone and topotecan, out of cells, thereby reducing intracellular drug accumulation and compromising treatment efficacy. This protein is expressed in normal tissues, including the placenta, liver, and intestinal epithelium, where it functions in xenobiotic detoxification and protection against toxins.

In cancer research, ABCG2 antibodies are widely used to study its overexpression in drug-resistant tumors, such as leukemia, breast, and lung cancers, as well as in cancer stem cells (CSCs) that drive tumor recurrence.
