PCSK1 (proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 1), also known as PC1/3. is a serine protease critical for processing prohormones and neuropeptides into bioactive forms. It cleaves precursor proteins such as proinsulin, proglucagon, and proopiomelanocortin (POMC) within regulated secretory pathways, playing a key role in endocrine and neuronal signaling.
