背景信息

The keratin 13 (KRT13) antibody is a tool used to detect KRT13. a type I acidic keratin protein primarily expressed in non-cornified stratified epithelia, such as those in the oral mucosa, esophagus, and vagina. KRT13 forms heterodimers with KRT4. contributing to cytoskeletal structure and epithelial integrity. Its expression is tissue-specific, serving as a marker for non-keratinizing squamous differentiation. In research, KRT13 antibodies are employed in immunohistochemistry (IHC) to study normal and pathological epithelial tissues. Loss of KRT13 expression is associated with malignant progression in squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs), particularly esophageal SCC, where downregulation correlates with poor differentiation, invasion, and metastasis.
