VAMP2 (Vesicle-associated membrane protein 2), also known as synaptobrevin-2. is a key component of the SNARE (soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor) complex, which mediates intracellular vesicle trafficking and fusion. Predominantly localized to synaptic vesicles in neurons, VAMP2 plays a critical role in neurotransmitter release by facilitating the docking and fusion of vesicles with the presynaptic membrane. It interacts with other SNARE proteins, such as syntaxin and SNAP-25. to form a stable complex that drives membrane fusion during exocytosis. Dysregulation of VAMP2 has been implicated in neurological disorders, including epilepsy and Alzheimer’s disease, as well as endocrine and neurosecretory pathologies.

VAMP2 antibodies are essential tools for studying synaptic function, vesicle dynamics, and exocytotic mechanisms.
