The KMT2A (Lysine Methyltransferase 2A) antibody is a tool used to detect the KMT2A protein, a histone methyltransferase critical for epigenetic regulation of gene expression. Formerly known as MLL (Mixed-Lineage Leukemia), KMT2A regulates transcriptional activation by catalyzing histone H3 lysine 4 (H3K4) methylation, a marker of active chromatin. The KMT2A gene is located on chromosome 11q23 and encodes a large multidomain protein containing N-terminal transcriptional activation domains (TAD), PHD zinc fingers, and a C-terminal catalytic SET domain.
